Lucky Star 05

Lucky Star!

Episode 5 was interesting…

Does this seem familiar?

Holidays, summer heat and procrastination once again.

I totally relate to that, considering i am having a 2 week holiday from college right now and today’s weather is HOT! 41 degrees in the hot summer sun of Melbourne, Australia.

Konata was feeling the heat in the world of Lucky Star as well, it is another few days of random comedy on what happens in real life, a little of the gaming world in japan and a few interesting parts, i have to say that episode 4 was more enjoyable, but still good none the less. ^^ Alrighty, shall stop here today. Take care and keep cool! Drink lotsa fluids!

Lucky Star 04

Is your problem with school exams procrastination?
Is your problem with being late for school because you could not sleep?
Are you are one of those who goes to school without sleep?

Well this episode is like this. Konata is always late, she gives the funniest and weirdest excuses, she always procrastinate, and she goes to school without sleep sometimes.
Does that sound like you? Cos it sounds like me.. haha..

There are so many points in this episode where you just go, “i know how that feels”.

But i guess that is the life of a student, be it if you are in an anime or in real life. ^^

Trivia from this ep – Konata mother died when she was young.

This episode was really enjoyable!
So check it out!

P.S: ep 02 and 03 were fun too! i am starting to fall in love with the opening song, it is so cute… i love Konata she is so adorable.
P.P.S:Eventhough i find this anime cute, it is not really one of those girly big eyes and typical cute characters… (i have no idea how to explain… just watch an ep and you will know what i mean!) ^_^v (it is 6.40am and i have yet to sleep, i am sooooo dead when school starts on wednesday….)

Haibane Renmei – 01

30 12 2007

Haibane Renmei on AnimeNewsNetwork

You are introduced to the world of Haibane Renmei through the experience of a little girl Rakka. The first scene is of her falling though the sky and being “reborn” from a large cocoon.
The people in this place called Haibane, it is a name that they have given themselves. They dont know who they are and have no memories of the outside world. They are isolated in this place and unable to leave. Soon enough after being reborn, they start to sprout wings and a halo is attached to their head. All they have are their dreams of when they were in the cocoon and they are named after the type of dream that they had. Rakka had a dream of falling through the sky from a high place and was named after that dream. You get a sense that she used to be human (whats to say that they are not right now) when she questions about the people outside and her saying she wanted to go home. However, she was told that that was not possible, just like how she does not remember the people out there or who she use to be, those people don’t remember her either.

A lot of mysteries and unanswered questions about the place are placed on the table and it seems like an anime that would not disappoint. The pace of the show is normal not being too slow or too fast and the feeling that you get from this anime is a feeling of relaxation.

Episode 1 ends nicely with her becoming one of them.

Baccano! – 01 & 02

Baccano! on AnimeNewsNetwork

Anyone ever watched an anime that made you think, what is going on? what is going to happen next? but have entirely no idea what the show is about or what can happen next cos you just dont know.

Well, for me, Baccano! is it. It is not horrible, on the contrary, it is actually interesting. You have people talking about a bunch of mumbo jumbo that i dont get, cool people who can well, more than regenerate, they can actually… suck(?) back all their blood. You have the mafia. 2 really weird people who are doing weird random things. All in all, it is a weird anime. Every episode is not really connected to one another, it is like a mass of randomness that is high on something. ^^

Check this out…

those are fingers by the way, cool stuff right? it happens around… 1/3 through the show… those fingers belongs to….

this guy.

It is quite interesting seeing them get shot up and not dying and being able to become fine after that, the reactions from normal people is really cool too. Honestly, i have to applaud the director. It could have easily become a flop in my opinion. I mean, losing interest would have been easy if it was not for the catchy music, the fast pace scenes, the jumping from one character to another, the wondering that you end up doing.

I haven’t got the slightest clue what this anime is about… BUT… its interesting.

Positve
Catchy music, fast paced, interesting characters, and i am so clueless that i am interested in what will happen next. ^^

Negative
No idea what is going on… haha

i give it a 6.5/10 right now, just cos i haven’t got a clue.

Gantz – 01

Gantz

It is not a new anime, but it is a new anime that i am currently watching. Honestly, it can get quite disturbing at times with its gruesome scenes and its nudity scenes.

The Story
The anime is interesting in the sense that unlike many others where you watch a story unfold, you are invited into the minds of the characters. One scene would be at the beginning of the story. You are first introduced to the main character when the camera invites you into the mind of this high schooler where he imagines his teacher and the rest of the girls in his class to be naked. At first i just thought he had turned into superman and developed x-ray vision. But soon enough you realize that it is not the case since the next thing he does after school is to buy a nudity magazine.

Anyway, to get home he takes the train, and in that scene you are able to “read” the minds of the people there and how they go about their daily lives. Honestly, it is quite shockingly true how selfish people can get sometimes. You realize how weak and pathetic most of the human population is sometimes. That is not the main point though. Ok, so Kei (the lead) is waiting for a train when a drunk homeless man falls into the tracks and no one wants to save him. Kei then sees his childhood buddy Katou, and Katou is the only one willing to pluck up his courage without excuses to save that poor fella. While trying to save that guy, Katou recognizes Kei and turns to him for help in saving the guy. They saved the guy but they get killed. This is where the fun starts.

Yup, as the screen capture shows. “What the hell?” would be your reaction as well. That is the main character Kei. He finds himself in this room with his old buddy and a bunch of weird stangers and a dog.

This is the room of weird people. A teacher, a guy with a girlish face, a old politician who was suppose to die of cancer, a dog, 2 yakuzas and a naked girl. Now now, dont you all go looking for a screen capture of a naked girl. She will be there, just not on this blog. Oh and that big mysterious black ball in the center of the room of course. It starts making noise and everyone stares at it and the ending credits appear.

Recommended to…..
If you are interested in animes that divulge in the psychological areas as well as games and gruesome weird stuff then this is the anime for you. For those who are not able to stomach blood or dont want to see nude female characters then this might not that good for you. For me, i am interested in seeing how the characters and this anime will play out. There are too many unknown areas right and watching the first episode just might keep you wanting more.

Positve sides
Invites you to realise a little more about how humans think. Plus all the above stated in the ‘Recommended to..” section. ^^

Negative sides
The color is a little on the dull side, but it works for such an anime as it helps bring the gruesomeness and darkness to life. I dont really like the main lead Kei, but who knows, shall wait and see. I am not too big on the nudity as well as all the blood.

Other than the above, this just might turn out to be a good anime.

7/10 – for keeping me interested and for making me agree with some of the stuff said. Oh and of course the interesting storyline.
