Blassreiter: genetic – ep 01

5 04 2008

Episode 1 –Prelude to Despair

My impression of this anime is… I can’t decide. I am torn between hating it and liking it. Throughout the whole anime I find myself going back and forth dislike and like so many times that I myself got confused.

So the simplest way to decide to to list it all.

Likes –

Animation fluidity

Action Sequences

The main guy (with black hair) looks coo

The story is pretty interesting

Dislikes –

It is too sci fi for my liking

While the animation was good, I did not like the overload of 3-D effects

Felt like I was watching a game. (Especially the part towards the end of the episode where the characters were standing there pointing the guns at the dude and you could see them breathing. It felt something from a game sequence.)

So as you can see I really can’t seem to decide if I like it or hate it. But I know that I am not really eager to watch the next episode. If I do decide to watch it, it would be so that I can actually see what the role of the main character dude with the black hair is.

Summary

I shall put what I saw in this ep into point form:

- Corpses coming to life and turning into monsters (probably why there is the word ‘genetic’ in the title)

- A lot of motorcycles and some racing

- Short fighting sequences between the monsters/mutated thingys

- Problem brewing (thus the title of the episode)

– A team of people fighting to destroy those weird creatures

– A special pill

– A very suspicious doctor

– And of course action

The story moves pretty fast and that is a good thing, the animation is really good but it is really a question of preference.

Anyway, since I have nothing more to say, here are the screen caps from this episode. Enjoy!

So what do you think?

Would you watch this series? ^_^

Oh and apparently Gonzo will be streaming this anime through youtube, crunchyroll and BOST with english subtitles at the same time as the airing for the anime.

I found this to be an interesting move. What do you think?
They probably know that an anime like this would be much more well appreciated with better quality as opposed to a lower quality streaming.

Major Season 4 – 14 (92)

5 04 2008

Episode 14

YAY! new ep of Major is out! (RAW not subbed)
Subbed Ep 08(86) of Major is out though

This episode’s main focus is on Keene (I think that is his name…), the catcher.

We get to learn about his past and why he is so controlling.
We get to see him learn his lesson, courtesy of Goro Shiiiiigeeeeenooooo (i like the way the announcer says his name, damn funny.)
And we get to see a baseball match, a short one, but yea, a match none the less.

Finally the whole team might start to show some teamwork.

The episode started off with the starting pitcher getting totally controlled by Keene and bossed around by him. Keene is good, you can’t deny the fact. However, he is so arrogant when he implied that the fact that they manage to shut the other team out was basically not the pitcher’s good pitching but rather his. The ass.

Anyway, naturally the pitcher started getting irritated and what not, but what can he do, they were winning so there was little he could say.

And so we have to leave it up to our dear Goro. ^-^v yay! Go Goro!

In this ep we see Goro practicing on his own etc, and I can say that this is probably one of the only episodes where I felt that Goro was not a show off. (I love the dude but you gotta admit that he is cocky.)

Ok, here are some screen caps for this episode.

Oooo, big problem for the Bats team… (i like this screen shot ^^)

I also like the way the ball looks in this shot… pretty

Alright. That’s it for the screen captures.

Anyway, back to Keene.

He reminds me of Inui from Prince of Tennis. Why? Simple

Inui – Data Tennis
Keene –
Data Baseball

^^ And this episode did remind me of Prince of Tennis as well when Goro said that Keene cannot just depend on his data. Lol. It sounded like a conversational snippet between Inui and Ryoma

By the end of this episode all is well

Which is a good thing!

Personally, I feel like as though there is something missing from this season of Major. I guess it is the idea of a main focus that is missing. Previously it was all about Kaido and getting in  or beating them. At the beginning of this season it was about getting into the Major League. However, right now there does not seem to be much of a focus. I guess we are reminded that Goro does train to be better, but it is just a short few seconds to remind you. Hmmm… but it is nice this way. Relaxing and fun. Nothing to heavy going on.

Amatsuki 01

5 04 2008

I am not too sure exactly what is going on in this episode but i will try my best to describe what I do know is going on.

Toki(aka Tokidoki) is a normal student who does really horribly in history. Somehow he ended up playing a partial virtual game of the edo era (i think that it was part of a school outing kinda thing). One moment he is walking along the streets of make believe Edo and the next moment he is face to face with a monster. Thinking that it was still part of the virtual game he just walked past it ignoring it. That was when he got attacked ad his glasses got smashed into pieces. Still stunned from what was going on and fearful for his life.. he just did nothing,. ( lol )

Suddenly just when he thought he was going to die a lady swooshes in and saves him. (A samurai lady with nice hair). And so our hero drowns and faints. When he awakes he realises that it was not just a dream and he had “lost” his left eye. Furthermore, his pal whom he just met at the virtual game was right beside him, although he looked somewhat different. He finds out that his friend had been in the real edo era for the past 2 years.

This is where I kinda got lost.

Apparently there are monsters in the edo era and some can see them some can’t. I am not too sure what is going on though so I would just have to wait for the subs to come out before I would be able to understand it.

Here are some screen caps to let you get a better idea of what went on in ep 1.

All in all, this episode was interesting, The series seems to be different from the typical plots (but I can’t be certain cos i barely understood what went on in the second half of the episode :P )

The animation for this anime is quite nice too.

That’s all for ep 1, I might update with more details when the subs come out.

Itazura na Kiss 01

5 04 2008

Ep 1 – Mischievious Destiny

This is where it all began.

Having seen both the Jap drama and the Taiwanese drama I felt that it would be hard for the anime to beat them. However, the anime has a different feel to it as compared to the live-action dramas.

This anime takes a less exaggerated path.
For example…
Kotoko – She is suppose to be stupid. And it is obvious that she is not smart. But she is not irritating either. I could never stand the personalities of the live-drama heroines. Kotoko in this anime is more subtly stupid in a sense. She does not go mumbling with obvious “??” floating around her head. She is much more normal. (thank god for normality)

Naoki – He is a genius and he hates stupid people. And as the same with the hero’s in the live-drama I never really wanted them to end up together because I could never really support them. However, I am starting to like this version of Naoki. He seems cool. (I could never really feel the cool factor from the previous Naoki’s)

The first episode is pretty much the typical Itazura na Kiss beginning. They did not change much. Kotoko confessed her love and got rejected before she could say anything. Reason – dumb. Her house then collapses and she is left homeless. This is when her life gets intertwined with Naoki. Her dad told her that they have a place to stay temporarily until they find a new place. Where is this temporary residence? Naoki’s place. It seems that Naoki’s dad and Kotoko’s dad were good friends that went way back.

The episode ends off with Kotoko in her room alone and in a new place. She is stuck with 2 guys that hate her (Naoki and the younger brother) and she has is just stunned with the predicament that she is in.

This anime seems to be fine. So far nothing heavy is going on. ^-^

If you are a Itazura na Kiss (aka It Started With A Kiss) fan then you might wanna give it a shot.
If you like to watch shoujo anime, you might want to give it a shot too.

P.S the OP song is really nice and fun and relaxing. ^^

-edit-

BakaWolf-m.3.3.w fansub has released the first ep with english subtitles
That is fast man.. just 2 days after the airing.. I thought that it would have taken them a week or so.. cool stuff
