The Mystery/Horror ‘Another’ Anime Project Announced To Be Release In 2012

The ‘Another‘ anime is a Mystery/Horror series based on a novel by Yukito Ayatsuji.

It tells a story of the a transfer student named Kouichi Sakakibara and what happens to him in his new and tense classroom after being drawn towards a mysterious girl with an eye-patch called Misaki Mei. There are some information on the website hinting towards secrets (dark/pasts) and disasters that no one must speak of.

In addition to this anime series as well as the on-going manga, a live-action version for this novel is also in the works.

The anime project has been slated to be released in 2012.

The genre has got me curious and excited but the character designs (created by Noizi Ito who did the original illustrations in the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels) is giving me a bad feeling that the direction of this anime is going to end up something like Gosick with a wimpy/forgettable male and a dark/mysterious female lead. The only thing redeeming is that it seems like this eye-patch girl looks like a quiet ghostly presence rather than a robust character. I have not read the manga nor novels so I guess it is all wait and see for me at this stage.

For me, my favourite mystery/horror anime thus far is still Ghost Hunt.

Prince of Tennis Theme Food Items To Celebrate 10th Anniversary Movie

From August 5th to September 30th restaurants inside Ikebukuro’s  Namco Namja Town amusement park will be serving 25 different types of Prince of Tennis desserts and other food to promote the September 3rd release of the anime 10th anniversary project, The Prince of Tennis: Eikoku-shiki Teikyu-jo Kessen!

The items range from gyoza to illustrated hamburgers” – CR News

What the…

I do love Prince of Tennis and I have to admit that there were times while watching it where I actually got hungry. But I mostly would get hungry for Sushi, seeing as to how that was the most common thing they would eat after a victory match. If not sushi, then I would want to drink Grape Soda.

I like the mysterious Inui revitalizing drink that they have created in celebration of the movie (though I won’t want to drink it), but where are the sushi items like wasabi sushi (they could make it look like a character just to suit the theme).

If ever given the chance I will probably want to taste the items on the menu, but they don’t look like the most appetizing things on earth. Although this is rather cute:

They look like eggs instead of ice cream, but oh so cute. =)

If you are going to visit that restaurant if you are in Japan, all patrons who purchase a food item will receive a limited edition Prince of Tennis stickers as a gift. Also, if you visit Namja Town, you will be able to buy a special Prince of Tennis edition day pass for a hundred yen on-top of original prices. The third floor will feature a “Shitenhoji Produced” school fair, and games like “Killer Serve! Take out the huge cans” can be played using… Tennis balls and a Racket. What else? =p

CLAMP to release a new manga

“CLAMP recently ended Kobato, with its sixth and final collection due August 26th.  This means that their only manga currently running is Jump SQ serialized Gate7.

The group is typically more active, and, in fact the upcoming issue of anime magazine Newtype will be marking the end of Kobato with a feature on CLAMP, and the announcement of information about a new CLAMP series” – Chibi Yuuto

I just hope that whatever this new series is, it will not be a manga version of Blood-C, and if they do do that, I hope that they will summarize the first repetitive part into 2 chapters, because that will save them the ink of photocopying the same scenes over and over just to portray the repetitiveness. (Can you tell that despite the development in the last Blood-C ep, I am still partially unhappy with the first wasted 3 episodes?)

Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi Season 2 and Hybrid Child Anime Gets the Green Light

Yay! More Sekakoi!!! =)

It was released that there will be a second season of Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi, an anime adaptation of a boys-love manga by Shungiku Nakamura (who brought us the lovely Junjo Romantica).

The studio that will be producing it has yet to be announced, but since Studio DEEN produced the first season, the likelihood that they will be the ones making second season is high.

Also announced is that there will be an anime series of Hybrid Child, another boys-love series by Shungiku Nakamura Sensei. Here is the plot:

“The Hybrid Child is an amazing ‘doll’ that can grow if it is lavished with enough love and care from its owner. Neither fully machine nor fully human, the various Hybrid Child models develop strong emotional bonds with their owners.
This volume contains several short stories of love, sacrifice, and drama: Young Kotaro learns the importance of responsibility when his Hybrid Child’s lifespan runs out. The tragic swordsman Seya learns to love again with the help of his Hybrid child, Yuzu. The final tale tells the story of Kuroda, the creator of the Hybrid Child designs, and how his lost love inspired their creation.” – Baka-updates Manga

The studio to be producing this series has also yet to be announced but since Shungiku Nakamura Sensei’s other series were all produced by Studio DEEN, it should be safe to say that this will be the same.

I really love Sensei’s work, but sometimes her characters all look too similar. I guess it is a case of why change something if it is not broken.

The release dates for both series have yet to be announced. I am hoping for October. =p

Inu x Boku To Be Animated

The anime adaptation of Inu x Boku SS aka Youko x Boku SS was announced in the August issue of Square Enix’s Gangan Joker Magazine this week.

Plot: “The Shirakiin house’s daughter, Shirakiin Riricho, who has a complex about being unable to live independently and unprotected, feels the need to move out and live on her own under the condition of residing in the mansion named “Ayakashi Kan.” In this mansion, only those who have cleared a very strict examination could reside in it, and for each resident, they are accompanied with one agent of the Secret Service (S.S.). Although Riricho has rejected the company of the S.S., while residing in the mansion she finds out that the agent dedicated to protecting her is actually the Fox Spirit whom she previously rescued.” Baka-Updates Manga

Despite the feminine artwork, this is a Shounen series, and it looks like it might actually make a decent anime. No release dates has been announced yet.

Thats all for the news updates! Hope you enjoyed reading them! Now comment on them! =P
