Hunter x Hunter 2011 Anime Slated for 45+ Episodes
*sigh* Just look at the difference in the posters.
The Original one looks way more kickass than the goofy 2011 series poster.
I just hope this is not an indication of what we are to expect out of the new series.
The English-language Program Licensing Catalogue of the Japanese production company NTV lists the length of its new Hunter x Hunter television anime series as “45+ episodes (tentative).” – ANN
45? 45+ Episodes?
I know it is suppose to be 45+ but still, the original had more than double the amount and I never once thought that things got draggy. (Maybe the greed island arc was a tad weird but still…)
I am starting to worry about whether this show will even continue past where the last Hunter x Hunter left off. It would be pointless to have a remake of an on-going storyline yet not continue past the original, not to mention how highly disappointing it would be if it does not continue on.
“The “definitive” new anime of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga will run on NTV every Sunday at 10:55 a.m. NTV opened a web page for the new anime, which will retell the manga’s story from the beginning.
Hiroshi Koujina (Rainbow – Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin, Neuro – Supernatural Detective) will direct the anime at MADHOUSE (Death Note, NANA), and Atsushi Maekawa (Dragon Ball Z, Fresh Precure!) is in charge of the scripts. Takahiro Yoshimatsu (“Something Yoshimatsu” of Future GPX Cyber Formula, Slayers) is designing the characters, while Toshio Nakatani is producing.” – ANN
After reading this news, lets just say that I am holding back my expectations of this show for now. The new series just looks like it will lose the edge that the original series had.

Hello. 🙂
When I heard that my all-time favorite Anime is going to have a remake, I was excited. I did not have the time to lower my expectations about it. However, I am sorry for you may not like what I’d say, I am disappointed with the first episode of Hunter x Hunter 2011. Without bias that the first 2011 Hunter x Hunter episode lacked impact. The phasing was just very fast and some important details about Gon were overlooked. I agree with you though. They should not done this remake. I would much appreciate if they continued the original. I still hope that the following episodes will not be as lame as the first one.
Or maybe I am just too attached to the original version since I grew up watching it. If you find my opinion bias, you should watch and judge it yourself then.

After four episode, i am done with the new remake. The remake version is a disrespect to the original version. And also disrespecting us viewer who actually remember the original. The time warp is crazy, they are cramming multiple episode of original version in one remake episode. Overlooking fine details that build the characters profile. WHAT A DAM DISAPPOINTMENT.
They should just stop now and reexamine there approach to this remake. If they cant do that then just stop here. Its just painfull to watch one of my favorite all time Anime get remake in such shitty manner.

I think the difference with the remake and the ’99 series was apparently quite different to the manga whereas the 2011 one follows the manga. =/
I think that if you think about it this way, the ’99 series is still there but this is something totally different, maybe this might help with watching the show. I personally prefer the ’99 series as well, but I am starting to get used to the 2011 one as well. Its very different though.

Why couldn’t that just make a continuation from where the original series left off?

Hmmm….
Maybe they are going to make more episodes but then in seasons?

I seriously just hope that they will keep this anime on-going even until the ant arc. 🙂

… If anyone has seen up to episode 44, I’m pretty sure we all can say MadHouse did a brilliant job. Hisoka is a pervy pedophile who popped a boner on more than one occasion, the Phantom Troupe is badASS, and oh, let’s not forget Hisoka’s fight with Kastro, which was NOT omitted in the 2011 one. That’s not to say the 1999 one was bad; I really liked that one too! I just personally like the 2011 one a bit more =)

One thing to say about the author? If you’re a fan you’ll know that the original cannot be named as the original it is fake.. why?? try reading the manga so you’ll know and one more thing if you base your criticizing on a mere poster then just watch and get your ass kicked by the anime itself.. seriously just watch the 2011

honestly im just watching it cuz i hope they go further the GI arc, only reason the 99 series was way better than the 2011, but the 2011 iffer “new episodes” so its good to kill time nothing more if u want to watch it go straight the 99 one

In 2013 I can say that it wasn’t a disappointing show (Infact it was fuckin awesome :P) and hopefully still carries on to follow the manga :D… Hopefully lol

Oh and P.S If you came here unsure about which of the two anime to watch first I would highly recommend the 2011 adaption. This is due to it being far more accurate then the 1999 series as it follows the manga almost to a tee. However I would also recommend watching the 1999 adaption as it is an incredible show (BTW there is far more blood in the 1999 adaption which is very nice :D) when of course you get the time to do so. So in conclusion I personally prefer the new adaption over the 1999 adaption and don’t let the poster fool you it still has just as many fighting scenes filled with epicness :D.

The goofiness you guys are complaining is the same as in the manga. You keep saying original is better, which many presume to be the 99′. The real original story comes from the manga, as many of you know. The character deaigns of the 2011 version are more close to that of the manga. The 99 changed the designs quite a bit, to make it look more cool. The 1999 looks too dark, and I don’t mean the atmosphere. The 2011 has its flaws, but it is superior to the 1999 version. But I can’t blame the creators of 1999, because they did not have the technology and, they did not have anyway near the manga material that the 2011 verion has.
