Hibike! Euphonium – 12 Review

hibike121.mp4 - 00006Kumiko’s putting her warface on.

This time I review:

Hibike! Euphonium 12: Kumiko didn’t care about music or playing the Euphonium. And still she played the Euphonium because everybody needs a hobby, right? Losing or winning were just two different sides of a coin she flipped as if it was the business of luck alone what would happen. But all that changed as she met Reina again and this time anything other than winning is unacceptable. Because this time it’s personal.

Hibike! Euphonium – 11 Review

Sound!_Euphonium_Episode_11.mp4 - 00004I get the feeling that the director or script-supervisor has dictated that each episode-script had to contain at least one romantic scene between Reina and Kumiko with the addition that these two would be getting closer to just making out wildly on-screen with each new episode.

This time I review:

Hibike! Euphonium 11: Kaori and Reina get their showdown. But before that their respective love-interests do the rounds in dealing with the circumstances of this confrontation. Also, the teacher’s cruel ploy ends up working for some reason without anybody realizing just how close they had come to the teacher putting Kaori into a VERY difficult position.

Hibike! Euphonium – 10 Review

Sound!_Euphonium_Episode_10_HD.mp4 - 00005This moment has been hinted at a couple times before but this is the most extensive flashback of this defining moment for Kumiko. So there you go: Another thing to add to the giant pile of character-shit the next two episodes have to resolve somehow!

This time I review:

Hibike! Euphonium 10: Kumiko has a touching conversation with Senpai and the peace of the ensemble gets disturbed by malicious rumors accusing the teacher of unfairly choosing Reina to be the soloist. Reina denies it openly and (naturally) she explains the whole situation only to Kumiko.

Review-Roundup: Hibike! Euphonium 09, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works 21

_C12__Fate_Stay_Night_-_Unlimited_Blade_Works_-_21.mp4 - 00004And the rest is, as they say, history…

This time I review:

Hibike! Euphonium 09: Auditions are happening and Kumiko is about to lose confidence… as her secret lover Reina appears and makes her swear to kick ass or something. Also, Hazuki still gives a shit about Shuichi. Neither Kumiko nor the series actually does so at this point.

F/SN: UBW 21: Archer loses because of all the feels and Gilgamesh blabbers about the end of the world. Because if the end of the world hadn’t been at stake Rin, Shirou and Saber just would’ve gone on a nice holiday instead of course!

Review-Roundup: Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works 19/20, Shokugeki no Soma 06-08, Sidonia no Kishi S2 05-07, Hibike! Euphonium 07/08

_C12__Fate_Stay_Night_-_Unlimited_Blade_Works_-_19.mp4 - 00002Yep, two whole episodes of fighting and arguing because two dickheads are just too frigging stubborn to find a compromise.

This time I review:

F/SN: UBW 19/20: Shirou and Archer finally meet in battle which naturally means… A lot of talking! Meanwhile Rin has the most tumultuous damsel-in-distress-arc imaginable.

Shokugeki no Soma 06-08: Soma can do no wrong! And apparently the best kind of school might as well be a tournament in disguise.

Sidonia no Kishi S2 05-07: Tsumugi, Izana and Tanake are having a jolly good time! Meanwhile, evil people do evil stuff with somewhat disastrous results! And those two things barely have anything to do with each other. Talk about plot-synergy!

Hibike! Euphonium 07/08: What do you do as a teenager when you’re not devoting yourself to playing music? Of course, you study! Or you go on a date! As far as teenage-life-tropes go not the most imaginative choices. Maybe the vague romantic tension between two girls will spice things up – is what the script-writers probably thought.

Review-Roundup: Hibike! Euphonium 04-06, Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku 03-06

_C12__Hibike__Euphonium_-_06.mp4 - 00001Asuka is most definitely the most entertaining character of Hibike! Euphonium.

This time I review:

Hibike! oEuphnium 04-06: A bunch of schoolkids deal with a teacher who seems nice but employs some really draconic teaching-methods. But it’s all fine because, as they say, pain is the best teacher. Also, we all know that you’ve wasted your childhood if you’ve never tried VERY hard to win a national competition.

Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku 03-06: Eruna does some nonsense and somehow some droopy dramaqueens get cured of their droopiness in the process. Also, battles and stuff.

Review-Roundup: Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid 03, Hibike! Euphonium 03

vivid 03.mp4 - 00003Nanoha ViVid teaching us all about how relationships work: If you don’t understand why some other person does this or that, you simply beat them long enough until their motivation becomes clear to you.

This time I review:

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid 03: Einhart and Vivio fight two times. Both times Vivio loses – but Einhart learns to respect Vivio. That’s why’s everyone fine with Einhart carrying the unconscious Vivio away on her own…

Hibike! Euphonium 03: Kumiko has found out that she has joined an ensemble fraught with corruption. A few students’ commitment-issues destroy the integrity of the ensemble as an institution of decency and ambition. Reina meanwhile does the only thing she knows to do in this situation: She goes rogue and does her duty as ensemble-member without the consent of her superiors.

Review-Roundup: Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku 01/02, Hibike! Euphonium 01/02

[C12] Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku - 01.mp4 - 00002I like to believe that this is Eruna talking about herself. Everybody else in this series got some boring tropes to prove their existence after all.

This time I review:

Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku 01/02: Eruna is a Yuri-Otaku who’s the Chosen One in a school that’s all about fantasy-battles. And as the Chosen One she’s about to kick everybody’s ass while trying to find her ideal girlfriend.

Hibike! Euphonium 01/02: Being a teenager is the perfect time to learn about how dreams don’t come true. But everybody’s got a second chance. After all, even when you’re already THAT old that you enter a High School, you still have a couple years left to put things right. And since nothing interesting EVER happens after you’ve left school, Kumiko and her friends have to give their best to be the best – on a national level! It’s one last job before they can retire and leave puberty behind!
