And so the start to a new series by BONES right after Gosick ends… Once again, this is a novel to anime adaptation.

(Episode 1 – Nura’s Clan Third Heir Awakens)
The title basically explains the whole episode. For those who remember the flashback scene that Kana of a bus crash as a child, this episode essentially covers that scene.

Episode 1 – Truth is Stranger Than Fiction
Misaki is suddenly having some unexpected and odd problems. What started as a need for some college entrance exam tutoring has somehow led him to being romanced by a suave older man who also happens to be his big brother’s best friend. Confused by all of his brand new emotions, Misaki struggles to deal with his suddenly very odd life. And if that wasn’t enough, his suitor, Usami, has plenty of issues of his own. A man-child who decorates his room in giant teddy bears and toys, Usami is a famous novelist who also writes steamy boys’ love novels on the side. When Misaki cracks open one of these books and reads sentences like “Misaki licks every inch of Usami’s hot body”…well, let’s just say that all hell breaks loose.
Episode 1 – Silver-Colored Shadow
Akira Nikaido is a typical slacker high school student who thinks he has a normal life–until a mysterious man called Shirogane appears and tells him to meet him at the school that night. He is skeptical but goes anyway…and gets attacked by a shadow monster! Shirogane convinces him that the balance between the human world and the shadow world has been distorted, and that Akira must become a shin–a creature of the shadow world–in order to help restore the balance.
Alright, if you were expecting to watch a boys anime (shounen) then I would have to say that guys might not wanna watch this. It is a boys anime alright, but I mean it in a different way.
Unless you are alright with guys kissing each other, I would say guys, hands off this.
Akira plays the guitar and is a slacker. In school, he is constantly being chased(more like wacked) around by a girl who wants to bend him into shape. The plot starts off this way.
It then progresses to you seeing Shirogane.
Akira meets Shirogane in the middle of the street and they engage in a weird dialogue that makes Akira doubt if it ever happened in the first place.
Cut to him going out at night and ending up in school where the fighting starts.
There are monsters in school and he and his 2 friends are getting attacked by them.
Shirogane appears and continues talking to him saying how it is fate that brought them together (yea right) and he basically tries to “charm” Akira into fighting.
Akira runs scared(which sets everything into motion), and in order to fight to stay alive he has to become a shin.
-magical kiss scene-
Shirogane then tells Akira that he cannot change back into his human form anymore, and said that if they kissed he just might turn back.
And of course he turns back. (I can’t remember if they did kiss)
Firstly, the plot is not even strong enough to entertain the audience.
Secondly, this seems like a bad rip-off from Loveless.
Some random guy comes up and pulls the main lead into a whole big mess (sounds pretty standard shounen doesn’t it?), but wait, get this, the way to ‘acitvate’ his powers/shadow thing (i think) is by kissing him. I have no idea if the freaky guy(silver hair) kisses the main lead out of pleasure or necessity.
Okay, so fine, it *might* not be like loveless, but it sure reminded me of lovelss.
Thirdly, the animation is mediocre. The aciton scenes are not even exciting.
Fourthly, the plot is somewhat boring and a mess.
It tries to sound sophisticated and dense with its play on the idea of shadows and weird things, but it just comes off as cheesy and common.
Fifth(ly?), the characters are very normal and standard as well. (The silver hair dude gives me the creeps. =_=! he reminds me of a transvestite that stalk the streets at night waiting to eat some poor young boy. (no offense to transvestites. the character just looks plain freaky.)) There is nothing special with the character design and personalities.
Okay, if that is not enough to put you off the anime then watch the first episode. Fine, since I manage to watch till the end of the first ep, it is probably not all THAT bad.
1) BL fans might… and I repeat.. MIGHT get a very very small small happy moment from watching the guys lock lips. (even then you see nothing but a fade out)
2) The story is acceptable, it will not make you run away, but this series does not stand out.
3) It has its cute moments. (I just can’t connect with the characters so I don’t “feel” those moments)
Here are some screen caps
Alright, look closely! Does the silver hair guy look weird??? He has lipstick and a very very flat face. (I know most characters do, but this looks flat like the pancakes that I have for breakfast (and probably will not have ever again.))
The fade out kissing moment that I was talking about just now
A fighting scene
Before writing this review I was contemplating if I should even write one.
There are anime that make you want to come back for more.
There are anime that have a lousy plot but just has a weird charm to it that makes you want more.
And then there are anime that you know are good but can’t seem to like.
Sad to say, it is none of those.
It is more of a weird feeling. Everything is really ‘okay’, not bad enough to make you discontinue watching it, but not good enough to make you have the motivation to want to watch it.
Even though I was looking forward to this anime this season, I can’t say that I do anymore.
P.S.: Sorry about the bad screen caps, I just can’t seem to capture a nice moment for some reason. It is always either fading in and out or just them standing there doing nothing.
Episode 1 – Resonance of the Soul ～ Soul = Eater, Becoming a Death Scythe？～
Episode 1 – Hikari・Kei
Hikari Hanazono, the main character, has always been second to Kei Takishima. While Hikari considers Kei a rival and somewhat of a friend, Kei loves Hikari. Everyone knows this, but she is too dense to notice. Their wrestling loving fathers first introduced them to one another when they were 6 years old. Assuming that she was the best in wrestling, young Hikari challenged Kei to a wrestling match only to be thoroughly defeated by him. Ever since that fateful incident, Hikari swore to beat Kei in school grades, a sporting event – anything. To do this she has enrolled in the same school as Kei since elementary. Now she attends Hakusenkan, an ultra elite school, that costs her carpenter father a lot of money. Hikari and Kei are the top two students in the school, with Kei holding firmly to that number one position
Basically, this is a comedy romance anime.
I feel somewhat dissapointed with the first episode though. I had such high hopes for this anime and I felt that it did not really meet the expectations that I had had for it.
One major reason could be because the “trailer” for S.A. was basically the first episode itself.
This anime revolves around hikari’s and kei’s competition and romance life as well as S.A. the class that they are in.
I would say that while the first episode manages to establish what is necessary the comedic moments took the limelight.
Everything was turned into a funny moment. Which I found to be quite fun to watch.
However (as I have not read the manga before), I feel like there does not look light it would be a painful anime to watch. It looks rather lighthearted and fun. I just hope that it stays that way without complications that make it too heavy to watch.
Overall, it is a pretty fun anime to watch. It is good, but not great. I like it, not love it.
But seeing that I was anticipating this anime more than Vampire Knight, yet Vampire Knight seem to have brought more to the table in the first ep, I feel somewhat upset right now.. T_T
Lets hope that episode 2 would be a great one!
Episode 1 – Vampire Night
Yuki’s earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, wherein she was attacked by a vampire… And then rescued by another. Now 10 years later, Yuki Cross, the adapted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her savior, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. But also at her side is Zero Kiryu, a childhood friend who’s hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear, is now determined never to trust them. This coexisting arrangement seems all well and good, but have the vampires truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there a darker truth behind their actions. Is Kaname’s infatuation with Yuki the beginning of a forbidden romance, or is it something in her forgotten past that draws him to her. Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death.
Oh my god!!! WOOHOO!! An anime to love!
This is definitely a good anime that you would want to catch.
Do not be deceived by the fact that it is a from a Shojo manga.
Sure, from the first episode it seems fully shojo without action in it. But a good anime does not necessarily need action does it? Besides, there are vampires in it! That ought to spice things up right?
And many comic relief moments here and there.
This episode is basically the plot builder. You are introduced to the characters and the way things work in that world. (refer to the summary above).
This could have easily been a flop, and would have made many fans of the manga upset. Many are already saying that the characters look good but not as good as that in the manga. Well, who can blame them, the manga character designs are really pretty. But personally I feel that the anime is done really nicely.
Instead of nonstop staring and pauses all over the place, this one dives straight into the issue and explains everything to you. The last few moments of the episode cleverly makes you want more. (I know that it made me want to pull my hair out knowing that I would have to wait for a week before being able to see the next episode.)
The humor in the anime is nice and light and it does not spoil the whole ambiance of the anime, it actually fits in quite well.
I was anticipating this series until I saw the trailer and wanted to give up hope on watching this series. But boy was I lucky that I did not do that.
The opening song was really cool and nice.
Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi – ON/OFF
It suits the mode of this anime while sounding nice.
The ED however was really freaky.
The music was ok, but it was the animation that freaked me out.
The girl sitting there like a lifeless doll with blood flowing out of her eyes and everywhere. ECK!
I don’t know if I should say that it is cool or ecky.
Bottom line, the first episode makes you want to come back for more.
Give it a shot, it is one of the better ones this season.
And if that is not enough to make you believe me, just look at the number of fansub groups subbing this series:
Conclave & Diffusion, Shoku-dan, Ureshii, Animanda, Orange-Side Fansubs/VK Scans, Mishicorp
It is the only series this season with that many fansub groups subbing one series. 😉

Episode 1 – The Awakened One
(dang that is one cliche title =_=! )
Rokujou Miharu is a boy who has a hijustu (hidden technique) living inside of him. This hijustu is the power of creation. Many ninja clans are seeking it as the one who posesses it becomes the ruler of the ninja world. Rokujou’s classmate Kouichi started a nindou (“Way of the Ninja”) club at school with Kumohira, his English teacher. Read the rest of this entry
Episode 1 –Prelude to Despair
My impression of this anime is… I can’t decide. I am torn between hating it and liking it. Throughout the whole anime I find myself going back and forth dislike and like so many times that I myself got confused.
So the simplest way to decide to to list it all.
The main guy (with black hair) looks coo
The story is pretty interesting
It is too sci fi for my liking
While the animation was good, I did not like the overload of 3-D effects
Felt like I was watching a game. (Especially the part towards the end of the episode where the characters were standing there pointing the guns at the dude and you could see them breathing. It felt something from a game sequence.)
So as you can see I really can’t seem to decide if I like it or hate it. But I know that I am not really eager to watch the next episode. If I do decide to watch it, it would be so that I can actually see what the role of the main character dude with the black hair is.
I shall put what I saw in this ep into point form:
– Corpses coming to life and turning into monsters (probably why there is the word ‘genetic’ in the title)
– A lot of motorcycles and some racing
– Short fighting sequences between the monsters/mutated thingys
– Problem brewing (thus the title of the episode)
– A team of people fighting to destroy those weird creatures
– A special pill
– A very suspicious doctor
– And of course action
The story moves pretty fast and that is a good thing, the animation is really good but it is really a question of preference.
Anyway, since I have nothing more to say, here are the screen caps from this episode. Enjoy!
So what do you think?
Would you watch this series? ^_^
Oh and apparently Gonzo will be streaming this anime through youtube, crunchyroll and BOST with english subtitles at the same time as the airing for the anime.
I found this to be an interesting move. What do you think?
They probably know that an anime like this would be much more well appreciated with better quality as opposed to a lower quality streaming.
