Shuumatsu no Izetta – 12 Review

You just gotta love this series for its “subtle” commentary on history.

Shuumatsu no Izetta 12: It’s all or nothing for Eylstadt! Germania has a nuke! And the only thing that can prevent its use is (of course) Izetta!

Coincidentally, though, she has just received a power-up that allows her to battle the clone-witch…

Shuumatsu no Izetta – 05-11 Review

That’s just a given in this series. Nobody looks closer at why exactly Eylstadt is supposed to be this idyllic paradise. Instead, it’s just assumed that everyone in Eylstadt is a good guy.

Shuumatsu no Izetta 05-11: The war goes swimmingly for Eylstadt and the rest of not-Europe. Izetta has become the most powerful person in the world (which naturally prompts not-US to start thinking about invading Eylstadt themselves).

But before that, Germania unveils its secret weapon: A clone of the White Witch!

And just to make matters worse, there’s suddenly something like a Witchstone which allows a Witch to be even more of a badass.

Except it turns out, things can get even worse than THAT. Because now Germania has a nuke as well!

With Eylstadt-soldiers dying left and right, it seems like Izetta has to prepare herself for a hard battle.

The things you (have to) do for your country, right?

Shuumatsu No Izetta – 01-04 Review

It’s strange when moments like this happen. The tone of the series is very at odds with this action-imagery as it’s more about morals than anything else.

Shuumatsu no Izetta 01-04: World Wars are bad. But shit happens sometimes, right? In this particular alternate universe, Germany takes on the mantle of villainy once again. Eylstadt, a little country in the mountains, is supposed to be its next victim. But Eylstadt has two weapons: One is the princess Fine who doesn’t seem to have any flaws and the other is the last witch Izetta who conveniently is also a super-powerful witch (and naturally Fine has saved her life at some point).

Fine seems to do everything right so far and Izetta is ignoring every piece of advice she has gotten from her grandma. But hey, what can go possibly wrong…?
