Itazura na Kiss Review

Have you ever seen a series that makes you wish you take the place of a particular character? This series makes me feel just that way. It leaves me with a warm and fuzzy feeling on the inside after watching it. This is the only romance anime series that I have seen that does not leave me heartbroken mid way or leave me wanting more and more. I mean, sure, given the choice i would take more eps of Itazura na Kiss. But this series does not need more eps. It ended the best way it could. Read the rest of this entry

Itazura na Kiss – 07

Episode 7 – Teasing Kiss

Itazura na Kiss is basically about the prank kiss right? Or as they translated the name into enligish it becomes ‘It Started With A Kiss’ (somehow or other). Read the rest of this entry

Episode 3 – Baton Touch of Love

Things start to get interesting in this episode.

Might Naoki be starting to develop some sort of feelings for Kotoko?

Episode 3’s main activity would be the school’s sports day. Where they have their track and field competitions. And Naoki reads Kotoko’s love letter! How will he react to that?

Nothing really BIG actually happens in this episode, I guess you could call it a chain of small events that leads to character development.

I was nearly on the verge of giving up on this series due to its lack of humor and very shoujo plot route. I thought that this episode was quite interesting and now I am actually looking forward to see what the next episode would be about.

However, I know that certain things were meant to be funny or cute or whatever, but I can’t seem to feel that from the anime. Perhaps it is the pastel mild colors, or soothing voices. Those “funny” moments just don’t stand out or are not as exaggerated as what I would have expected it to be in order for it to be funny.

My favourite part of this anime was probably the last 5 minutes of this anime and the scene where Naoki reads the love letter.

Since this anime is suppose to be about the lives of Kotoko and Naoki all the way until after marriage, the plot is moving on pretty fast.

And if I might say so, I feel that Naoki was actually pretty pleasant and cute (towards the end) in this episode.

If you were uncertain about this anime, you might want to give this episode a shot and decide if you would want to watch on. This episode kinda pulled me back into the ‘slightly-interested’ realm of things.

Maybe there is hope for this anime afterall!

Plus a new message board tabloid. OooOoO, Kotoko and Naoki raburabu, marriage seems to be not too far away. lol

Episode 2 – Living Together Is Dangerous

Summary

This episode is basically as the title says. It is about them living together

The main focus of this episode is to show that while they may live together, they still can’t get along.

Kotoko has decided to aim to be in the top 50 spot in school in the upcoming exam, and how does she plan on doing that? By blackmailing Naoki into tutoring her.

What does she use as blackmail?
You see the image above of a girl?
Thats no girl, it is Irie as a kid (courtesy of Naoki’s mom).

So Irie tutors her.

Towards the end of the episode, when everything between seems to be getting better something happens to put her back in the spot of being hated by Irie.

Overview

I found this episode alright.
I find this series alright.

It is not great and neither does it really make me want to watch on all that much.

Part of me just wants to find out what happens. The rest of me just watches it for the heck of it.
The plot is interesting and fun, if it were your first time seeing it.
After all the tv-drama remakes, you might be better of watching the dramas instead.

Characters wise, i prefer the way they portrayed the characters in here.

Anyway, nothing dramatic actually happens in this ep.

It is basically a plot development and character development. We see the 2 characters trying to interact with each other, the closest we get to a relationship in this episode is friendship. So far no sign of loving happening soon.

[Description of Screen Caps]

– having breakfast at the house

– going to school together

– Kotoko being left behind

– Irie shocked at the stupidity of Kotoko (when they were studying for the exam, not that Irie needs to study)

– Both of them at the results of the examination

– A prank by (most likely) Kotoko’s classmates. Something that destroys their short lived peace.

Thats about it for this ep

Rating – Will continue to watch, but not all that excited. 6/10

Itazura na Kiss 01

Ep 1 – Mischievious Destiny

This is where it all began.

Having seen both the Jap drama and the Taiwanese drama I felt that it would be hard for the anime to beat them. However, the anime has a different feel to it as compared to the live-action dramas.

This anime takes a less exaggerated path.
For example…
Kotoko – She is suppose to be stupid. And it is obvious that she is not smart. But she is not irritating either. I could never stand the personalities of the live-drama heroines. Kotoko in this anime is more subtly stupid in a sense. She does not go mumbling with obvious “??” floating around her head. She is much more normal. (thank god for normality)

Naoki – He is a genius and he hates stupid people. And as the same with the hero’s in the live-drama I never really wanted them to end up together because I could never really support them. However, I am starting to like this version of Naoki. He seems cool. (I could never really feel the cool factor from the previous Naoki’s)

The first episode is pretty much the typical Itazura na Kiss beginning. They did not change much. Kotoko confessed her love and got rejected before she could say anything. Reason – dumb. Her house then collapses and she is left homeless. This is when her life gets intertwined with Naoki. Her dad told her that they have a place to stay temporarily until they find a new place. Where is this temporary residence? Naoki’s place. It seems that Naoki’s dad and Kotoko’s dad were good friends that went way back.

The episode ends off with Kotoko in her room alone and in a new place. She is stuck with 2 guys that hate her (Naoki and the younger brother) and she has is just stunned with the predicament that she is in.

This anime seems to be fine. So far nothing heavy is going on. ^-^

If you are a Itazura na Kiss (aka It Started With A Kiss) fan then you might wanna give it a shot.
If you like to watch shoujo anime, you might want to give it a shot too.

P.S the OP song is really nice and fun and relaxing. ^^

-edit-
