S.A. – 03

Having lost the previous match to Kei, Hikari has now got to fulfill one of Kei’s wishes.
Make an obento for Kei to eat.
The problem is that Hikari sucks at cooking.
Heck, her onigiris were more like a metal ball rather than something edible.
It seems like she can’t control herself when it comes to doing everything. She simply puts too much strength into doing things.
Kei on the other hand has never had a home-made bento before and starves himself in anticipation for Hikari’s cooking.
But will he eat it if the cooking is so horrible that it might kill him? ^_^

ans: he does and he actually said that it was good!

Overview

I started watching this episode with the bad taste that was left behind by the last episode, but I have to say that this episode was actually nice.

It is fun and funny and Kei is such a darling and is so sweet in this ep.

Hikari is still her usual battle-mode self but that was only for the first half of the episode. So it was still acceptable.
The animation was pretty cute, especially the student council president’s reaction to Hikari’s food. (the SC president can be pretty irritating at times, I think it is his voice or something, it is just weird.)

But as usual, nothing amazing about this episode. However, I felt that this episode was nicer than the manga chapter. So that is a plus. I gues just seeing it animated made it cuter. I just hope that the director for this series continues to produce more interesting episodes and not slump back into the quality of episode 2

Episode 02 – Pride. Pro-Wrestling

Boy of boy, I don’t even have the motivation to write a review about this utterly boring and disappointing episode.

But why am I writting?
I just had to voice out how I felt about this episode.

Hikari is getting on my nerves in this episode with her non-stop challenges and Kei is Kei (i am not being bias just cos he is slightly cool).

The first part of the episode is a reintroduction of the different people in the S.A. class and basically re-establishing the fact that Hikari is number 2 and Kei is number 1 and they are never going to stop bickering about that fact.

The later part is basically introducing the Student Council and a new sort of “fight” starts. The battle between the Student Council and the S.A.

The form of the challenge ? Pro Wrestling.

I have no idea which school in their right mind would even bother having pro wrestling as a challenge with such an elaborate ring.

The good part of this episode though is that we get to see a kinder side to Kei and see more of Kei’s affections for Hikari. His over protectiveness and his jealousy is quite clearly expressed in this ep.

While this ep is quite faithful to the manga counterpart (I can actually recognize this story), it does not come across as fun or as nicely as in the manga.
Something was lost in the conversion process. My guess would be that the manga was much more fast paced and did not have to worry about dragging something out to 25minutes.

Overall, I am utterly disappointed and am craving for the sight of the torrent for Soul Eater ep 02 raw to be out… where are youuuuu??

Anyway, this is how I feel about this ep.

Am I anticipating the next ep?
Yea kinda, the next ep should be quite fun to watch, that is if it will be as good as the manga.

Will I go crazy waiting for the next ep?
No way. This ep is not even good enough to make me want to rewatch it.

My advice would be to just read the manga.

How did you find this ep?

Episode 1 – Hikari・Kei

Hikari Hanazono, the main character, has always been second to Kei Takishima. While Hikari considers Kei a rival and somewhat of a friend, Kei loves Hikari. Everyone knows this, but she is too dense to notice. Their wrestling loving fathers first introduced them to one another when they were 6 years old. Assuming that she was the best in wrestling, young Hikari challenged Kei to a wrestling match only to be thoroughly defeated by him. Ever since that fateful incident, Hikari swore to beat Kei in school grades, a sporting event – anything. To do this she has enrolled in the same school as Kei since elementary. Now she attends Hakusenkan, an ultra elite school, that costs her carpenter father a lot of money. Hikari and Kei are the top two students in the school, with Kei holding firmly to that number one position

Basically, this is a comedy romance anime.

I feel somewhat dissapointed with the first episode though. I had such high hopes for this anime and I felt that it did not really meet the expectations that I had had for it.
One major reason could be because the “trailer” for S.A. was basically the first episode itself.

This anime revolves around hikari’s and kei’s competition and romance life as well as S.A. the class that they are in.
I would say that while the first episode manages to establish what is necessary the comedic moments took the limelight.
Everything was turned into a funny moment. Which I found to be quite fun to watch.

However (as I have not read the manga before), I feel like there does not look light it would be a painful anime to watch. It looks rather lighthearted and fun. I just hope that it stays that way without complications that make it too heavy to watch.

Overall, it is a pretty fun anime to watch. It is good, but not great. I like it, not love it.

But seeing that I was anticipating this anime more than Vampire Knight, yet Vampire Knight seem to have brought more to the table in the first ep, I feel somewhat upset right now.. T_T

Lets hope that episode 2 would be a great one!
